My mom is an amazing lady.  Not only did she have two kids, she taught in the Vocational Technical school all day and took classes for her doctorate at night.  We always had a dinner and never were in lack for clean clothes.  As a mom today with one kid, I marvel at her ability to manage all of her responsibilities.

I wanted to surprise my mom with a queen size quilt.  And, I didn’t  want this to be an average quilt.  This quilt had to be the best that I could muster.  The best piecing, the best quilting and the best hand binding.  I worked day and night on this quilt adding incredible detail quilting every chance I could get.  My mom was so surprised on Christmas Day. She loves it!!!  She loved it so much that she wanted matching pillow shams, pillow, and bed skirt.

The queen quilt is based on the Missouri Star Quilt Company Binding Tool Star quilt pattern using primarily fabric designed by Studio RK for Robert Kaufman La Scala Parchment fabric along with a little Studio RK for Robert Kaufman La Scala Champagne. The batting is Warm and White batting single layer.

There are many different techniques, designs, and ideas of quilting in this quilt.  I will post some pictures to give you an idea of the pattern.

My mom enjoys this quilt everyday in her guest room/office.  I hope you enjoy these pictures as well.

Have a wonderful day!

Laura
